The Russian Museum Collection is a municipal cultural center located in the old Royal Tobacco Factory, known in the city of Malaga as the Tabacalera.
It will reopen its exhibition halls with artistic funds from the Picasso Birthplace Museum in more than two thousand square meters, making room for two major exhibitions: "Incessant Picasso" and "The Reason for Dreams"
The exhibition "Incessant Picasso" with more than three hundred pieces made by Picasso between 1905 and 1971 (prints, illustrated books and ceramics from the collections of the Museo Casa Natal Picasso, to which are added photographs by Juan Gyenes and works from the temporary deposit of the Arias family), collects an anthology of themes and techniques, of styles and experiments, of testimonies of a life, based on the creation and use of freedom taken to its limits; the splendor of Picasso from his first maturity to his final years through thematic axes that cover the various aesthetic modalities of his overwhelming production: from the transition between the blue and pink eras, to analytical cubism, synthetic cubism, classicism, surrealism and free figuration based on the combination of cubist and surrealist elements. On few occasions have exhibitions been shown with a comprehensive and global spirit to show a ceaseless, boundless and inexhaustible Picasso, a ceaseless Picasso in which life and freedom meant the same thing.
At the same time, the collection "The reason for dreams" stands out with graphic work and painting by renowned authors such as Tápies, Bacon, Arroyo, Equipo Crónica, Barbadillo... which will accompany the main one in parallel through eight thematic and formal sections. , unfolding an iconographic repertoire that gathers the aesthetic vibration of an era that survives in us.
