MATILDA is the Royal Shakespeare Company's multi-award-winning musical based on the novel by Roald Dahl, an author who has sold over 250 million books.
It is one of the most awarded contemporary musicals and has been performed with great success for 12 years in London. On Broadway it ran for 4 years with over 1,500 performances.
Winner of more than 100 international awards, including 24 for Best Musical, it has won 7 Olivier Awards, 4 Tony Awards, and 5 Drama Desk Awards among others, making it one of the most awarded musicals of the 21st century.
MATILDA is a play full of feelings, emotion and humour, with a soundtrack composed of wonderful songs that enhance the strength and delicacy of its story and with incredible choreographies that work with the precision of a perfect machine. All of these elements make MATILDA extraordinarily captivating from beginning to end. The musical is unanimously recognised as one of the most difficult productions to stage due to its great complexity, the large number of children it requires and the extraordinary skills they must have in order to develop their characters. In order to be able to play the role with the level of excellence that this play demands, they will have received more than 24 months of training prior to rehearsals.
