Archaeological Museum of Alicante

The MARQ (Alicante) is an archaeology museum that is committed to the renovation of the traditional exhibition system, understood as a collection of duly classified and catalogued finds. A project conceived and developed with the aim of being the first archaeological museum of the 21st century. The past of a people, in whose origins different civilisations succeeded one another, is definitive for understanding its present and its future, and this is what we must transmit to everyone who comes to MARQ. The Museum welcomes visitors by immersing them in the geographical space of Alicante, showing them the rich and varied range of landscapes and monuments in these lands. From there begins the historical journey through the permanent rooms of Prehistory, Iberian Culture, Roman Culture, the Middle Ages and the Modern and Contemporary Ages.

Next to the MARQ, you can visit the sites Illeta dels Banyets (El Campello), the Tossal de Manises-Lucentum (Alicante), the Sanctuary of Pla de Petracos (Castell de Castells), and the Cova de l'Or (Beniarrés), as well as the monuments of the Almohad Tower of Almudaina (Almudaina) and the Cava Gran de Agres (Agres). Archaeological sites and monuments to enjoy the history of both the marvellous Mediterranean landscape of the coast of Alicante and the mountains in the interior of the province.
